Bezdrátový router TP-LINK TL-WR842ND poskytuje propustnost bezdrátového spojení až do rychlosti 300 Mbit/s. Podporuje standardy IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.1x. K propojení s ostatními prvky sítě slouží jeden 10/100 Mbit/s WAN port a čtveřice LAN portů. Novinkou u tohoto modelu je USB konektor pro možnost sdílení tiskárny. O výstupní výkon se stará dvojice externích antén s výkonem 3 dBi, kterou je možno odpojit a nahradit ji vlastní. Tento přístupový bod podporuje šifrování 64/128-WEP a WPA. Napájení je řešeno přiloženým DC adaptérem.
